What are the tuition fees?
The tuition fees for trainees on School Direct will be £9,250.
Will I have to pay to register with a University?
No, you will be affiliated with a university, with access to their on-line resources. Your PGCE is accredited at the end of the course. If successful you will graduate alongside the University’s postgraduates.
When do I need to pay the tuition fees?
You can choose to pay the fees up-front, or to take out a tuition fees loan from The Student Loan Company (SLC).
Is there any support to pay the tuition fees?
Maintenance loans are available to support living costs during the training year for Home students in England. To check eligibility and to apply visit www.direct.gov
Home and EU students may be eligible for a tuition fee loan to cover the costs of the course. This is available through SLC. More information can be found at www.direct.gov.uk
Am I able to apply for a student loan as a PGCE student?
Home students in England may be eligible for a student maintenance loan to help towards living costs and accommodation. Again more information on this can be found at www.direct.gov.uk
You are automatically eligible for a tax-free bursary of up to £26,000 if you accept a place on an unsalaried course with us.
There are also scholarships in some subjects of up to £28,000 that you can apply for too!
You will earn a salary of between £16,000 to £21,000 whilst you train depending on the subject. You will be employed as an unqualified teacher by the school on a one year contract, tuition fees will be paid for by the Alliance.
