A Tribute to Tom Reilly. The community of The Arthur Terry School would like to pay tribute to Tom Reilly, a much loved colleague and friend of the school who died last week. Born in 1948, Tom came from Galway, Ireland, and came to the Midlands in 1967, aged 19. He became a caretaker in a Sutton school, before coming to work with us in 2007. An avid amateur dramatist, Tom was an active member of the Vesey Players and Trinity players treading the boards in such shows as Calamity Jane, Beauty and the Beast and Sweet Charity. Tom loved singing and was a member of the Trinity Church Choir and Arthur Terry Community Choir. He liked to dance but, by his own admission, had two left feet – it didn’t matter to Tom, he just loved having fun and helping others to have fun too. Tom didn’t always enjoy great health, but this didn’t deter him from always putting others first. He ran the Sutton Coldfield Fun Run and raised over £600 for local charities. On Christmas Day, he could be found helping to feed the homeless instead of thinking of himself. His warmth and generosity of spirit was an overriding feature. Tom always had a smile, a kind word and a genuine care and interest in the work he did and the children and colleagues he worked alongside. We salute a valued colleague who gave so much time to the school and always looked on the bright side of life. Tom touched many people’s lives and we will miss him dearly. UN14 FOOTBALL SUCCESS Step aside Paul Lambert – Arthur Terry U14 manager John Byrne is set to take over managerial duties in the Aston Villa dugout …well, at least for one 1 game on May 15th – 2.00pm kick-off. The Y9 football team played the second leg of the BSSF Cup Semi-Final tonight, away at Lode Heath School (Solihull) and won 6 – 2. Fantastic game, classic counter attacking display, making it a very comprehensive 10 – 5 aggregate result/victory overall! Villa Park Stadium for the final here we come!!!!!!!! Suffice to say the lads are absolutely delighted (…not quite as excited as their manager though!) – What a fantastic occasion to look forward to for all concerned Forthcoming Revision Sessions A reminder that Easter revision classes are taking place on 14th and 15th April from 9.00am -1.00pm.
