YEAR 11 PROM Please be aware that when considering hiring a limousine for your child to travel to and from the prom they are required to be licensed in order to operate lawfully. Some unscrupulous operators are misleading customers and hiring a larger capacity limo for hire under the guise of a ‘Self Drive Hire Contract’, the company will then supply the drive, this is breaking the law and passenger safety is also put a risk. We would urge you to make the following checks when enquiring about hiring a limousine and when it arrives: * If they are licensed and with whom, * Ask them for their license number, * Ask for the registration number of the vehicle that will be supplied, * When the vehicle arrives to collect passengers ensure the vehicle is displaying the required license signage (private hire or PSV) * If it is a private hire vehicle, ensure the driver is wearing his identification badge. You can check the validity of the information provided with the relevant licensing authority. If a company is not licensed we would recommend that you do not use them.
