November Exams 2012 Students must be dressed in correct school uniform for examinations or they may not be permitted entry into the examination room. Please also ensure your son/daughter brings the correct equipment to school in a clear pencil case, i.e. black pen (not a gel pen), pencil, ruler, rubber, maths equipment and a scientific calculator. Mobile phones are not permitted in the exam hall and the school cannot take responsibility in the case of loss or damage. Upon receipt of personalised examination timetables students are to check them carefully and if there are any discrepancies or queries go to the Data Office immediately. Students are to check the Exam Notice Board (located next to the dining hall) on the day of the exam for final confirmation of the room and seat number. The Arthur Terry Rewards System At Arthur Terry we like to create a positive ethos through effective recognition of achievement, effort and progress in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. Praise is a key feature of the School Development Plan and is significant in contributing to success and personal development of all students. The school reward system is displayed in a pyramid format. The Praise Pyramid (click here to view) encourages the active and direct involvement of all staff and allows for all students regardless of ability, gender or age to be given the opportunity to achieve within the rewards framework. Central to the rewards philosophy is the expectation that all teachers will praise students, including contacting parents, as a matter of routine and means of motivating students and establishing a positive climate for learning. The principal is that Students collect as many praise points as they can which lead to half termly rewards and the end of term celebratory events. Achievement Points are recorded and circulated weekly to Tutors and shared in form time where students can celebrate together. Last year students were rewarded in many ways including gift vouchers and school vouchers which enabled them to enjoy their rewards throughout the year. Uniform Reminder At Arthur Terry we pride ourselves on our high standards and this extends to school uniform. This is just one of the areas where it is vital that parents and school work in partnership to assure success! Please ensure that your child is dressed in the appropriate uniform at all times to avoid disruption to their learning. Parents must consult the attached document before you purchase any uniform. Please Click here for the link. Maths Extra Sessions Booster sessions are taking place in the Maths department everyday in preparation for the November exam – before school, lunchtimes and after school. Students are completing a past exam paper on a weekly basis, which is being marked and then used as a revision tool. Please ask your child about their test results. Please encourage your child to attend so that they can maximise on their potential. Music Instrumental/Vocal Tuition 2012/13 If your child is bringing an instrument from home into school, please make sure that it is clearly labelled with their name and tutor group.
