by Miss Worthington and Mrs Wallace Arthur Terry students were fortunate enough to spend Saint George’s day learning skills from some of the best coaches in the country at Saint George’s Park, which is where the England Team train. The experience was thanks to Aston Villa Football Club, with whom many of our students train, who chose Arthur Terry to represent them for the day. As well as seeing the state of the art outdoor pitch, which can be trained on in all weathers, and the England Changing room, complete with players’ shirts on display, the Arthur Terry students also were able to play some friendly matches within the indoor 3G pitch alongside other schools and colleges. As well as the chairman David Sheepshanks CBE being present, the students also got to meet some sporting greats, including England Ladies Midfielder Jade Moore, Stoke Goalkeeper Jack Butland and also England legend Michael Owen. They offered advice and answered questions to the budding football stars before sharing some of their own sporting prowess alongside the students. It’s not every day you score a goal against a Premiership keeper! Special thanks goes to Nigel Macrow at Aston Villa who made this experience possible.
