Well done! Heads of School would like to say a big well done to our Year 11 students from last year who did so well in their GCSE examinations. Four fifths of our Year 11 students gained 5 or more GCSEs including English and Mathematics, 35 per cent of Year 11 students gained 3 or more A* or A grades at GCSE and a quarter gained 5 or more A* or A grades at GCSE! It really was an amazing achievement and the students should be very proud of what they have achieved; all of those revision sessions, A*/A masterclasses and long nights revising have certainly paid off! Well done! We are all very proud of you! In the event of long term absence due to illness please contact your child’s Progress Leader and The Attendance Officer as it may be possible to provide work for your child, in order to minimise the effect of missed learning. Netball dates for the diary KS4/5 (Yr 10/11/12/13) Netball League is starting Sept 16th, 23rd and 30th at John Willmott school. Any student wishing to play netball should attend practice on Friday lunchtimes in the sportshall. Year 11 History Sessions: Year 11 History revision sessions will be running every Wednesday after school from the 30th September. A list of the sessions running is available in each History classroom. The sessions will provide support and guidance for the Medicine Through Time exam and later in the year, the American West exam. Any questions, please see your History teacher. Art Department Any students that have taken GCSE, AS or A2 level qualifications can collect their submitted Coursework and Exam work from October half term 2015 (OCR regulations) Many thanks for the commitment from all the students involved. School Show Auditions This years school show will be SOS, inspired by Mamma Mia! We Will Rock You was one of our most successful shows to date and the Performing Arts team are really looking forward to SOS, which promises to be a lot of fun! Any student interested in auditioning should attend a meeting in the school hall on Friday 18th September from 3.30-4.30. All information about auditioning will be given out in this meeting. Anybody interested in getting involved with the technical side of the show (lighting, sound, props, costume etc…) should attend a meeting on Tuesday 22nd September at 12.30 in B1.4. Many thanks, Mr Jordan Miss Beech Year 10 Work Experience Year 10 will be completing 1 week of Work Experience commencing on Monday 11th July 2016. Students have all attended an assembly in July and been given a booklet outlining what is expected of them. Further information will be given out to students at the Year 10 Information evening on Wednesday 21st October. Once you have found a work experience placement please submit the information by following the link which has been emailed home. We will then in due course contact all placement providers and obtain a health and safety clearance. Please note:- we will not be able to clear anyone who is a sole trader. KS3 Dance and Drama clubs There will be meetings next week for any students in year 7 and 8 who wish to join the dance or drama clubs.
