Showcasing Outstanding Education

‘The Outstanding in Education Awards 2015’ which took place at Sutton’s New Hall Hotel, recognised and celebrated staff achievements across the ATLP’s seven schools, five children’s centres and teaching school. Teaching and non-teaching staff from the multi-academy-trust’s primary and secondary schools in Sutton, Erdington and Coleshill, were among the finalists to be honoured for their services to education. ATLP chief executive and respected education leader, Sir Chris Stone, hosted the event, which included a three course dinner, followed by awards. Andrew Mitchell MP presented the award for ‘outstanding contribution to education’ to Arthur Terry School’s Roger Townsend – who is now in his fifth decade in education – before closing the event with a celebratory speech. Finalists from the partnership’s 600 plus staff were nominated by colleagues for their work across 12 wide-ranging categories, including: outstanding team, education support, and community champion. Sir Chris said: “It’s a privilege to be surrounded by so many outstanding colleagues who share one common goal: to give our four thousand plus students the best education possible. “Our team work together tirelessly and with such enthusiasm to create this excellent learning community, and so this is our opportunity to show our appreciation and thanks. “These were first ever ‘Outstanding in Education’ awards and there is a real buzz around schools right now. We want this to become an annual event so we can honour even more staff from our partnership.” Andrew Mitchell MP is a keen supporter of the ATLP, having visited two of its schools in his constituency – Mere Green and Arthur Terry – earlier this year to celebrate outstanding Ofsted ratings and record-breaking exam results. He said: “I’m honoured to have been part of the awards. The ATLP has so many dedicated staff who are as committed as I am to providing young people with a quality education and life opportunities. “This event aimed to acknowledge the pivotal role they play in shaping lives and building better futures, and to commend them for their outstanding work and generous spirit.” The ATLP is pleased to announce that these awards were kindly supported by the following community partners: Action Sport UK Aspire Sports Ltd.
