Chris and teachers Rachel Mills and Michelle Spires from Mere Green Primary School, were nominated for the VIP reception with Prime Minister David Cameron to celebrate excellence in State Education. The thank-you event – which was also attended by Education Secretary Michael Gove – was designed to recognise the achievements of educators and marks another success for Mere Green School and the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership. Chris was also invited to the House of Lords to share his ideas on education with key government, business and political leaders. The dinner was hosted by Lord Jim Knight, and guests included Tristram Hunt, Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Kevin Brennan, Shadow Minister for Schools. Chris, who has now met with Prime Ministers Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and David Cameron, said: “We were incredibly honoured to be invited to Number 10. It’s wonderful that Mere Green School’s early years teaching and inclusion teaching has been recognised as being some of the best practice nationally. I’m so thrilled to be part of that experience and to join the school’s journey as it moves towards excellence in all areas. “The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership strives to deliver excellence in teaching and learning and this is another example of how we are committed to providing outstanding education for every child.” Rachel and Michelle said: “We were so thrilled to be nominated for this prestigious event – we felt so special! It was an honour to represent everyone at Mere Green in truly making a difference to our children, day in and day out, and sharing it with Sir Chris was the icing on the cake. A day ingrained in our hearts forever!”
