The talk of the town! Speech savvy sixth formers win regional debating contest

Congratulations to articulate Year 12 students Sophie Harding and Oliver Seymour on scooping first place in a regional debating competition. On Thursday 12th March, Sophie and Oliver represented the Arthur Terry School in the annual Sixth Form Parliamentary Debating Competition which was held at Bishop Vesey School and attended by student representatives from eight schools in the Sutton Coldfield area. Teacher and coach, Abbey Wadey, said: “Sophie and Oliver prepared and delivered impressive and refined speeches and were praised by the judges for their teamwork, coherence and the strength of their arguments. “Both students coped remarkably well under pressure when they were given a notion to debate with just half an hour to prepare. This resulted in Arthur Terry winning the prestigious competition and shows the high levels of commitment, dedication and pride that students at Arthur Terry have.” For the full story please click here to read the Royal Sutton Coldfield Observer article.
