West Side Story Star Returns To Sutton School For Special Performance

Star struck youngsters were treated to their very own performance of sell-out theatre show West Side Story when former pupil Sinead Kenny returned to Arthur Terry School this week. The talented 22-year-old re-visited her old school, along with fellow cast members, to take part in a dazzling performance and QA sessions with students. Sinead, who plays Consuela and the understudy for Anita in the popular musical – now showing at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham – wowed students with her outstanding performance skills. The year 11 students, who are studying West Side Story as part of their curriculum, were treated to their very own performance of hit songs from the show. Afterwards, they were given the opportunity to quiz Sinead and the cast on their careers. Sinead, who left the Arthur Terry School five years ago, and has starred in a number of productions, including the smash hit 9-5. In a twist of fate, the gifted performer previously starred as Consuela in the school’s production of West Side Story. Sinead hopes her visit has inspired other talented youngsters to pursue their ambition of appearing on the stage. She said: “I’m proud and excited to be back here. It’s been fantastic speaking to the students and I hope our visit has encouraged them to fulfil their dreams. “The Arthur Terry School’s provision for performance is fantastic, which is why I chose to study here. Thanks to everybody for their support. It’s great to be back!”
